The unique designed beads are designed to self clean and provide excellent housing for beneficial nitrification bacteria. They are designed to have the maximum surface area to colonize beneficial bacteria to help reduce harmful ammonia and nitrite in the water.

They work by rubbing together in your aquarium filter causing the breakdown or debris and removed old dead bacteria from the beads allowing it to be replaced with newer younger heavier feeding bacteria.
